Rush, a Canadian progressive rock band, formed in Toronto in 1968 with Alex Lifeson (guitar), Geddy Lee (bass/vocals, joined soon after), and John Rutsey (drums).
Debut album Rush released in 1974.
Neil Peart replaced Rutsey in 1974, adding lyrics and complex rhythms that defined the band's signature sound.
Evolved from hard rock to progressive rock, synth-heavy in the 80s, then back to heavier guitar-driven sound in the 90s.
Final album Clockwork Angels (2012); last tour in 2015. Neil Peart passed away in 2020; the band is currently inactive.
